Domodesign, or 2 days of lectures, workshops and consultations

The third installment of Domodesign, which took place May 10-11 at Warsaw’s Domoteka grounds, was a success, as evidenced by lecture auditoriums filled to the last seat, complete lists of workshop participants and long lines of people waiting for free consultations with architects. Once again, it turned out that we want to live fashionably and functionally, we are interested in current trends and…. we need professional advice. Based on this year’s experience, the organizers of Domodesign are already promising that the program for the next event will be even richer and more diverse.

All visitors to Warsaw Domoteka during the two spring days (May 10-11, 2024) could not hide their satisfaction. No matter if they wanted to learn about current design trends, product innovations in interior design or get rid of dilemmas about furnishing their dream apartment or house. The important thing is that they left Domoteka satisfied – full of inspiration, a substantial dose of new knowledge and eagerness to put the ideas taken from Domodesign into practice as soon as possible.

Lectures – a strong point of the Domodesign program
Lectures were an important part of this year’s Domodesign. Despite their diverse themes, they shared a common denominator – fashionable and functional interiors. It was about them and how to furnish them that the protagonists of the lectures and panel discussions – well-known designers, leading architects, journalists of interior design magazines and trendsetters – talked about them. The various speeches were as varied as the different styles of currently fashionable interiors.
The theme of one of the most interesting lectures held at this year’s Domodesign was the latest edition of Milan’s “Salone del Mobile” fair. This event is considered by many to be the world’s most important design and interior design event. Not surprisingly, it was the subject of a lively discussion moderated by Olga Kisiel-Konopka, owner of the agency OKK! PR and design aficionado, and attended by Anna Gruzewska, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Czas na Wnętrze”, Lukasz Siwiec, designer, Ambassador of Domoteka, Anna Koszela, interior designer, and Szczepan Zalewski, a student at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and the winner of the 3rd. “Paradyż Designers” edition.
Speeches introducing practical aspects of interior furnishings and design were also very popular. The audience was full to the brim when Ewelina Białobrzewska (4 angles a table 5) talked about functional solutions in the kitchen, and Agnieszka Lesiuk (Art Design Studio) advised which furniture would work best in small spaces. During the speeches by Alina Badora (interior designer) on choosing a sofa for the living room and Marta Iglewska (Interiors) on patents for the perfect table, the audience was also already running out of seats.
A meeting on designing a party garden also turned out to be a real hit. In this case, the significant turnout is not surprising, as the presentation by Benedykt Kawęcki (Landscape Architecture Benedykt Kawęcki) and Katarzyna Kustra (Garden Space) perfectly coincided with the start of the outdoor season.
These are just a selection of the lectures and presentations that took place during the latest installment of Domodesign. Their list was much longer, making it easy for any Domoteka customer to choose something that interested them most at the time.

Workshops – how to create a unique interior
Domodesign also provided a unique opportunity to gain practical knowledge that you can later use in your own home or apartment to make it unique. Those who wanted to learn how to create their own fragrance essence for interiors benefited from the knowledge and guidance of Katarzyna Kochanska of Herb Thea.
The organizers of Domodesign also did not forget about professionals, namely architects and designers, who wanted to enrich and develop their practical skills. A series of workshops has been planned specifically for them.
Artificial intelligence is a technology that has already entered many areas of life. How to make it support the design process was told by Maciej Dańczura of CAD DECOR studio. Promotional activities, so important in the highly competitive architecture and interior design industry, were leaned on by well-known TV journalist Katarzyna Jaroszyńska. It turns out that even by creating professional rolls on Instagram, you can effectively promote your own brand.
Secrets of designing audio systems for any space were revealed by – Kamil Swendrowski (Denon Store, Audio Forum), Maciej Żak (Denon Store, Bang & Olufsen, Audio Forum) and Paweł Kowalski (Bang & Olufsen). And Monika Salata (Monika Salata Pracownia Architektury Wnętrz) introduced the principles of interior design for the beauty industry. The knowledge imparted during the presentations was of a very practical nature, so there is a chance that it will enrich the workshop of many an architect or designer participating in Domodesign.

Professional consultation with architects
Traditionally, free design consultations with interior designers and landscape architects have been the undisputed highlight of Domodesign. There were queues to individual architects. No wonder that Agnieszka Lesiuk (Art Design Studio), Eliza Kaminska (Pelikam), Ewelina Białobrzewska (4 angles a table 5), Iza Szewc (Mood Factory), Katarzyna Sosińska (Katarzyna Sosińska Interiors), Marta Iglewska (Interiorsy), Monika Jabłońska-Sulej (Monika Jabłońska Design), Radosław Wójcik (Interiorsy), Andrzej Komakowski (Projektownia Andrzej Komakowski) or Benedykt Kawęcki (Benedykt Kawęcki Landscape Architecture) had their hands full. Some asked about the best solutions available on the market, others shared their doubts, others wanted to consult their ideas with experts. No one was left without advice or an apt hint.

New ideas in Old Walls
During Domodesign, attention was drawn to the Old Walls zone, prepared by the Arche Group, which is engaged in the restoration of old buildings. The architects, Piotr Grochowski and Wojciech Kolęda, invited all interested parties to a fascinating journey into the world of readaptation and revitalization. They not only showed photos, but also exhibits from the restored buildings, which have been given another life in their new look. They were accompanied on this unusual journey by numerous guests who are familiar with the topic of revitalization. They presented, among other things, a barn…. converted into a wedding hall, and a beautiful mansion in Dankovo, which has become an art house. There was also about modern construction technologies applied to historic buildings and the unique combination of sound, design and acoustics in old walls.
Observing the tremendous interest in the event and the lively discussions accompanying the individual presentations, the organizers of Domodesign decided to initiate a series of meetings with architects in this very zone in the Domoteka space.

Exhibitions that combine design with art
During Domodesign, a number of exhibitions functioned in the Domoteka space, which aroused great interest among the participants of the event. Among the most important, it is worth mentioning the exhibition of Anna Halarewicz, the exhibition of the NÓW Association, photographs from the series “Passage Italia” (Michal Lukasik & Lukasz Siwiec), “Save the Planet” (Leo-art) and the exhibition “Flow and Transformation” by Renata Kusznierska.
The program of this year’s Domodesign was a response to the wide range of needs of people dreaming of furnishing or renovating their dream home. It featured a number of lectures by leading experts in the architecture and interior design industry. There were also workshops and exhibitions. Also of great interest, as every year, was the free advice given by architects representing well-known studios. Not surprisingly, customers leaving Domoteka were already announcing their participation in the next edition of Domodesign.
